The forth Wing Chun form is practiced on the wooden dummy (man), and is known as Muk Yan Jong. There are 108 movements in the Wooden Man Form, comprising the most commonly used techniques of the Wing Chun System. The Wooden man has two upper arms and a lower arm, as well as a protruding leg at low level. These arms represent a person’s arms from the shoulder to the elbow point, because Wing Chun is a close quarters combat art. The form teaches the Wing Chun student the importance of bridging above the opponents elbow, as well as methods of entry at different angles.
The lower leg of the dummy is also used as a bridge, teaching students how to navigate around the opponents lower limbs. Kicks are also honed to perfection on the lower leg and main body of the dummy.
